Andi Champion was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Texas A&M University. Growing up she was fascinated with everything related to health and wellness, and hoped to eventually turn her lifelong interests into a career. After graduation, she began an internship in the Communication Department at the San Antonio Food Bank. While there she assisted with educating the public about the issue of hunger, and helped make the connection between food insecurity and how it can lead to poor nutrition. Upon completion of the internship, and looking for a way to channel her passion for healthy living with her knowledge in communication, Andi began her career in the Strategic Marketing and Communications Department at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System (CSRHS). In her three years with CSRHS, she had the ability to experience different roles while managing numerous projects. Beginning as Street Team Coordinator, where she attended events to build brand awareness, to transitioning into the Marketing Coordinator role for the region, she completed her time with the team in the dual-role of Marketing Coordinator for the region and interim Program Manager for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. During her time at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, she learned about CHEF and its unique nutrition program available to children and families located inside the Hospital. She was excited to find out CHEF provided a hands-on method of learning in their teaching kitchen and was able to see the benefits of the program firsthand. The program drew her in and soon after, Andi transitioned into the role of CHEF’s Marketing Manager. She is excited to use her background in marketing to help support and further CHEF’s mission, while also being a part of an organization that promotes positive lifestyle changes for the individuals in her hometown.
