Alexandria (Alie) Cantu, RDN, LD is excited to join the CHEF Team as the Program Developer and Registered Dietitian. Born and raised in San Antonio, Alie’s journey with food and nutrition began at an early age when she was diagnosed with Classic Migraines and learned firsthand the power food has on the body. This sparked her interest in studying Nutrition further at the University of Texas at Austin where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics. After completing her Dietetic Internship through UT Austin’s Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Alie moved back to San Antonio where she began volunteering with CHEF at Lamar Elementary throughout Fall 2019. It was then that Alie fell in love with CHEF’s mission to teach basic nutrition and cooking skills to children and families in the San Antonio community. Since then, Alie has worked with the City of San Antonio’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and with H-E-B’s Nutrition Services Team as a Contract Dietitian. Throughout these experiences, Alie has developed her skills in team and time management, problem solving, quality assurance, and compassion. Alie’s life motto is “Teach man Nutrition, feed him for a lifetime!”. Alie is excited to bring her passion for service, nutrition, and cooking to CHEF and the San Antonio community to adopt and sustain balanced eating habits.
