Alexandria “Alie” Cantu, RD, LD is an Intern at CHEF and provides support to the entire CHEF Team with instructor trainings, teaching assistance, and material development.
Alie’s journey with food and nutrition began at the early age of 11, when she was diagnosed with Classic Migraines. It was then that she learned the power food has on the body and how simple lifestyle changes can make lasting impacts. Her passion was nurtured through the Mayor’s Fitness Council (MFC) where she served as a MFC Student Ambassador from 2014-2015. It was through the opportunities she experienced with the MFC that the pursuit of a higher education in Nutrition was planted.
Alie completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and completed her dietetic internship through the Coordinated Program. During her undergrad, Alie was the Vice-President of Texas Nutrition, a student organization that provides opportunities for students to explore the field of health and nutrition, while also serving the community and networking with professionals. She also served as Cook Staff Head for Longhorn Awakening 64, a student-led retreat, where Alie used her love of cooking to lead a team of students in serving others.
Alie’s motto is “Give man a fish, feed them for a day. Teach man nutrition, feed them for a lifetime!”. She is excited to combine her passion for service, nutrition, and cooking to promote the San Antonio community adopt and sustain balanced eating habits.
